McKesson Canada recently expanded its growing hospital business with two agreements as the preferred supplier of products to hospital pharmacies.
In a two-year prime vendor agreement with the Department of National Defence, McKesson Canada will supply all bases across Canada with pharmaceutical products.
"We have supplied National Defence for the past 10 years and we remain committed to meeting their special requirements," said Gloria Wynnyk, Director, Hospitals & Professional Affairs, McKesson Canada. The agreement is important as it establishes McKesson's entry into the institutional and government market, she noted.
Furthermore, McKesson Canada signed a three-year national contract with Pfizer Canada Inc. to be the preferred supplier to all hospitals across Canada. The business represents significant volume annually for McKesson. The deal with Pfizer is significant because the pharmaceutical manufacturer recently acquired Pharmacia, a large provider of products specific to hospitals, and became one of the leading companies in the drug industry.
"We look forward to a long-term relationship with this partner and ensuring their success," Wynnyk said.
