Shaunette’s Story
A We Care Grant from the McKesson Taking Care of Our Own Fund helped our colleague when her daughter became ill.
At McKesson, we care about our people
At McKesson, we care about our people — when you’re at work, at home or anywhere in between. And we know that life can sometimes take you by surprise, whether it’s a natural disaster or a family emergency.
That’s why we set up our employee relief fund. It’s a way for our people to get (and give) help during difficult times. It’s how we take care of our own. Read our FAQ page for more information.
How and when to apply for a grant
If you find yourself dealing with an unexpected emergency, you can apply for a grant from McKesson’s Taking Care of Our Own Fund. We offer two types of grants: the Get You to Safety Grant and the We Care Grant. Both are administered by the Emergency Assistance Foundation.
Get You to Safety Grant
Do you need immediate financial help due to a natural disaster or other catastrophe? We provide $1,000 evacuation assistance grants for McKesson employees who have been evacuated, displaced or stranded by a government-declared disaster.
There are no income requirements for this grant. You just need to be a McKesson employee who works 20 or more hours per week.

We Care Grant
Depending on your situation, we provide grants up to $5,000 to cover basic costs after a personal hardship or government-declared disaster. We know these situations are time-sensitive, so we’ll get back to you as soon as we can — typically within 3 to 5 business days. If approved, you should receive payment within 2 weeks.
Because it’s a grant — not a loan — you never have to pay us back. But to make sure we can help those who need it most, income guidelines apply. Read the FAQs to find out if you qualify. If this grant feels like what you need, here’s what to do.

“I was out of power for over two days and lost all the food in my fridge and freezer. The grant helped me completely re-stock my fridge. Having to worry about financial help is hard when you’re going through a natural disaster.”
